What a beautiful summer day! The whole crew went to the lake. Some sat under the apple trees and munched the windfall fruit. Others prefer to work for their apple treats. By tossing an apple in the lake, the race begins. Taylor watched the big dogs go after the apples and decided she was a big girl, too! She did it several times, so we know it was no fluke. She also swam out to get a (too big) bubble ball, but quickly learned her mouth was much too small.

Taylor 3 months old (birthday 5-13-10)
Taylor is young and eager to learn. Within 24 hours of being here, she had already learned the perimeter and pathways of 12 acres, how to use the doggy door (by watching the other dogs), meals are served in a crate, and that there is a difference between a kiddy pool and the lake.
Splashing about in kiddy pools, wading in the lake, running through the waterfall, and even chomping at a light spray from the water hose are some of her favorite activities.
Taylor is friendly to humans and dogs, but was a little too curious towards my cat. Kitty gave Taylor a warning swat, which was enough for Taylor to retreat.
Taylor is confident and bold, sometimes leaping before looking (which explains how she learned about the lake). She has no problem keeping up with the other bigger, older dogs on our walks or at play. She can hold her own in chase games and wrestling matches, yet accepts correction without back talk.
Taylor does like to play with a wide variety of toys--tennis balls, stuffed animals, and squeakies. Her main objective is to gain possession, rather than retrieve. We are working on “give it”, “bring it”, & “leave it”. She’s not a destructive chewer, either. But occasionally when I give her a cheek to cheek hug, she will nipple at my ear.
Taylor is very treat motivated and eats her meals with enthusiasm. She is neither food possessive nor aggressive and waits her turn for snacks.
Taylor is learning to leash walk and doing quite well. Off lead, she stays with within sight. Once, she followed a couple of the older dogs tracking a bunny. I couldn’t see Taylor, so called for her (she has good recall). She cried out to let me know where she was. There had to be a reason she didn’t come running to me….she was tangled in the honeysuckle vines.
Taylor is definitely a mix breed, possibly a Bull Terrier. Physically, her color, markings, and ears resemble a BC, as does her intelligence--she is one smart girl! Her gait, either walking or running, is not BC. Bull Terriers are described as “clownish”, whereas Border Collies are quirky and intelligent. What a combo-- a quirky, clown with intelligence and energy!
Taylor is being fostered in southern Indiana. The adoption fee for a puppy is $275 plus a refundable $100 spay/neuter deposit. Spay must be performed by age six months.
